A wheel balancer's average life span is seven years. Some have lasted 15 to 20 years. New or old, 60% of wheel balancers have problems balancing wheels. This can be attributed to improper wheel mounting on the balancer. The accessories are as critical, if not more critical than the balancer itself. In time, cones and shafts get worn. New equipment will not fix mounting errors. If you put the proper tooling on an old balancer, you can still come up with perfect balance and repeatability. |
